Munu · Hand gestures
Move the pointer and windows with your hands
Munu watches your hands through the webcam you already have. Pinch to click, make a fist to grab a window, throw it to snap it.
Version 1.0.0 for Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 15 or newer. 7 days free, no card.
Updated
What it does
Hand gestures start in Watching mode, where your hands are tracked but nothing moves. Both thumbs up switches to PC control; one thumb up and one down goes back to Watching. Turning gestures on never hands over your computer by surprise.
Nothing from the camera is recorded or saved. It is watched live, on your computer, only to find where your hands are. A picture leaves the computer only when you ask Munu to look at something.
A short calibration, about 30 seconds, fits the gestures to your hands and your screen. You can do it during setup or later in Settings.

Things to try
Both thumbs up
PC control: your hand now drives the pointer.
Pinch thumb and index finger
Click. Hold the pinch and move to drag.
Fist over a window, then open it while moving fast
Throws the window: sideways snaps it to half the screen, up maximises it.
Raise one fist for about 2 seconds
Munu starts listening, without saying its name.
Cross your forearms
Pauses everything and hides the overlay. Cross again to resume.
Turn hand gestures on
- Keep “Use the camera for hand gestures” ticked in the setup window, or turn it on later in Settings, then General.
- Allow the camera when your computer asks. On a Mac, also allow Accessibility so gestures can move the pointer.
- Click Calibrate now and follow the steps, about 30 seconds.
- Show both thumbs up to take control. One thumb up and one down hands it back.
Good to know
- Needs Windows or a Mac with Apple silicon.
- On Windows, gestures cannot control a window that runs as administrator.
- A thumbs-up is never accepted as a yes for a risky action. That always needs a spoken “Munu confirm”.
Questions
Does Munu record my webcam?
- No. Nothing from the camera is recorded or saved. It is only looked at, live, to work out where your hands are.
Do I need a special camera?
- No. The webcam built into your laptop or a normal USB webcam works. If another app is using the camera, Munu says so and tries again every few seconds.
How do I stop hand control quickly?
- Cross your forearms to pause it, show both thumbs down to turn gestures off, or say “Munu, stop hand control”.
Say its name. It answers.
Munu is a desktop voice assistant for Windows and Mac, with memory you own and hand control through your webcam.
