What it does

Munu installs into your own Windows account. It never asks for administrator rights and there is nothing else to install first: no Python, no terminal.

It works on Windows 10 and Windows 11 on a 64-bit PC. PCs with an ARM processor are not tested yet.

Windows already has Voice Access, a built-in feature for controlling the PC with spoken commands. Munu does something different: it is an assistant you talk to. It answers questions, remembers things in your notes and runs longer tasks for you, and it needs an internet connection to do that.

Things to try

  • Munu, open Calculator

    Opens any app from your Start menu, by its name.

  • Munu, open YouTube

    Opens a well-known website in your browser.

  • Munu, volume down

    Turns the sound down on whatever is playing.

  • Munu, take a screenshot

    Saves a full-size picture of the screen on your Desktop.

  • Munu, start a job that finds three pizza dough recipes

    Runs a longer task in the background and tells you when it is done.

Install it on Windows

  1. Download Munu-1.0.0-windows-x64-setup.exe from the download page and open it.
  2. If Windows says “Windows protected your PC”, click More info, then Run anyway. The first downloads are not signed yet.
  3. Click Install, leave Launch Munu ticked and click Finish.
  4. Find Munu in the notification area near the clock (click the ^ arrow if you do not see it) and follow the setup window.

Good to know

  • Hand gestures cannot move or click into a window that is running as administrator. Windows itself does not allow it.
  • It needs the internet, and it speaks English only.
  • It does not send email or messages for you.

Questions

Does Munu need administrator rights on Windows?

No. It installs into your own user account, in your local app data folder, and adds itself to the Start menu.

Does Munu work on Windows 10?

Yes. Munu runs on Windows 10 and Windows 11 on a 64-bit PC.

Where does Munu keep my sign-in on Windows?

In Windows Credential Manager. Keys are never written to the settings file or the logs.
