Munu · With Obsidian
A voice assistant that writes into an Obsidian vault
Munu’s memory is a vault of plain Markdown files. Open it in Obsidian and everything it knows is right there, as notes you can link and edit.
Version 1.0.0 for Windows 10 and 11 and macOS 15 or newer. 7 days free, no card.
Updated
What it does
You do not need Obsidian to use Munu. The notes are ordinary Markdown files, so any text editor works. But if you already live in Obsidian, the vault fits straight in.
Munu stays in its own lane. It only writes inside its Munu folder, its own notes under Knowledge, and a Decisions note. The rest of the vault is yours, and Munu does not rewrite it.
Every change it makes is logged in Munu/Log.md, so you can see what was written and when. If something is wrong, edit the note in Obsidian or say “correct that”.
Munu is made by Moon Labs. It is not made by or connected to Obsidian.
Things to try
Munu, remember that the launch moved to the 14th
Writes it into its notes in the vault.
Munu, what do my notes say about the garden?
Reads the notes it needs and answers out loud.
Munu, correct that, the launch is on the 16th
Strikes through the old claim and adds the new one.
Munu, what did I decide last week?
Answers from Decisions.md.
Use Munu with Obsidian
- Finish Munu’s setup. It creates a vault in Documents, or uses the folder you pick in Settings.
- In Obsidian, choose Open folder as vault and pick that folder.
- Read Munu/Log.md to see each change Munu made.
- Edit any of Munu’s notes in Obsidian. Your version is the one Munu reads next time.
Good to know
- Munu reads notes to answer you, and the parts it needs go to the AI models through OpenRouter.
- After Munu reads your notes for a request, it stops fetching web pages until your next request, so a web page cannot trick it into sending your notes anywhere.
- It speaks and understands English only in version 1.0.
Questions
Do I need Obsidian to use Munu?
- No. The vault is a normal folder of Markdown files. Obsidian is one good way to read it, and any text editor works.
Will Munu change my existing notes?
- No. It only writes in its own Munu folder, its notes under Knowledge, and Decisions.md. The rest of your vault is left alone.
Can I point Munu at my existing vault?
- Yes. You can choose the notes folder in Settings. Munu then keeps its own notes inside it and leaves yours as they are.
Say its name. It answers.
Munu is a desktop voice assistant for Windows and Mac, with memory you own and hand control through your webcam.
